Addition and Subtraction Strategies  Rubric Term 3 2021   Name:

Criteria

Level 2 (5ii)

Early Level 3

Level 3

Level 4

Addition and Subtraction strategies

Simple strategies to add and subtract smaller numbers.

Knowing a range of strategies e.g. use of an  algorithm, or partitioning.

Applying a range of appropriate strategies for different problems. Number lines, compensation,

Have a range of strategies that can be used for decimal numbers and fractions

My  goals:

Goal

Success Criteria (This is what it will look like when I get there)

I need to be able to break numbers up to make it easier to subtract.

To achieve this goal I can break up single digit numbers to add or subtract. Eg 47 + 8 means 47 (+ 3 + 5) = 47 + 3 = 50 + 5 = 55 or

in 43 - 6 the 6 would be partitioned into a 3 and a 3. 43 - 3 = 40 - 3 = 37.

I need a range of strategies to be able to use to add and subtract when solving different problems

To achieve this goal I can use different strategies. I can use number lines to count on and count on back, rounding skills to compensate as well as an algorithm. I must be able to partition well so I can bridge through tidy numbers.

I need to be able to select the strategies to use to add and subtract when solving different problems

To achieve this goal I will have a range of different strategies I can use. I can look at numbers in a maths problem and say this strategy will be best here because ………  I need to be able to justify and explain. I begin to check my answers.

I need to be able to extend my use of addition and subtraction strategies to decimal numbers, fractions, and percentages.

To achieve this goal I will be able to solve math problems that involve decimal numbers, fractions. I will use self checks and inverse to help my accuracy

Goal Setting in Addition and Subtraction

My goal is to have a range of different strategies to use

In fraction work and adding and subtraction.

Addition and Subtraction Reflection

Using the two tests, think about your strengths and which gaps you have sorted out. (goals you have achieved). Google form to  be completed at the end of the 3 weeks.

Talk to someone about:

  • How you achieved them (you could talk about how quickly you achieved them, some of the learning qualities that helped you achieve them.)

  • What strategies you now have to help you with addition and subtraction problems. (use your rubric)

  • What worked well for your learning (what you did or what your teachers did)

  • What could have been better (what could you have done better? or what could your teachers have done better?)

Finally post on your Blog

Reflection: I think that i have improved in many areas not my goal and I think that's because of the long break of lockdown

Progress and what could have been better.

Fraction teaching reflection

 Fraction Reflection

This is an opportunity for you to reflect on your Maths teaching and learning this week. You can then put it up on your blog.

As a Learners:

What did I learn during the two different lessons? Well in the first lesson i finded it really hard to learn because the teachers dumped a whole lot of work on me and did not explain it. And in the second lesson I learnt so much that basically no. All my fractions I learnt halves quarters and much more.

What could have been better?  Well in my opinion the first group of teachers could have been a bit more precise when explaining and given us a bit less  work and maybe explained the worksheets. for the next teacher, Rome. could have  tried to do a kahoot and  a bit more work on a whiteboard.

What were the strengths of my / our teaching? The students that we talt found it really fun because we played  lots of games to do fractions and we gave not too much work and not too little work.

What could have been better? whatI think the teacher's could have done better is explained the topic a bit more and explaining fractions because i don’t know fractions.

What did I learn from being an observer?  not everyone is good at fractions and that doesn't matter because you can learn. And that fraction learning can be fun

Would you like the opportunity to teach children in another area of maths? Why or why not? Know because I was poot with silly people and they weren't helpful and I don't want to be put with  silly people again because we didn't get anything done when teaching fractions.

staying on land

 Staying on land

Dear chief

I am writing to you because i would like to stay on land i understand that there will be many applications but i think i've got one best i have 3 great reason on why i think i should get to stay and i don’t know about you but i wouldn't like to go on a boat that could lead to potential death i know i don’t. But I really appreciate the offer but I would like to stay on land.

Reason 1  in my life time i had been to many different countries and every chief i have visited said that i had does the best at keeping the Island spick and spam very clean. I can clean your house anything just let me stay

Reason 2  when  it comes to kids and babies I'm the one you need to see.I know lots about children how they react to things. I know everything, in fact I won awade on the best babysitter so there you have to choose me to stay.

Reason 3 I can climb a tree you need someone who can do that for food

I know that there will be many  applications and it will be very hard to choose but i’m say do not put me a board on the horouta Waka I will drown.

Aviation Museum

Tuesday 18th of may the day I've been waiting to go to. The aviation museum. Now we were there opening the doors of the cars and then we went in. There were two wonderful helpers Duana and Linda who took us around the museum showing us plane after plane. Then we got to the biggest plane that was in the museum. It had not been in the museum for a very long time. They repaired it and took out the engines. That's when we Realised there were  steps into the plane we went in and it was so cool up to the top we went.we looked out the window and the amazing Mrs Toon took photos of us hanging out the window of the plane. Iinda went and showed us the history of planes and war that was fun we learnt lots. A big thanks to the aviation museum.

explaining hockey positions

 Explaining

How to play the hockey positions

My goal is to add punctuation and have paragraph

In hockey you have to play with positions where there is Middle Defender the wings  and goalie.

I will explain all the positions and how they work starting off with middle

There are three people who are in the middle . Each player of the three needs to create a form of a line. The line of people will create a barrier so the opposite team's ball can not go through the lined barrier; that's how you play the middle position.

Defender  has 1 person playing that position and that person is there to help the two wings score goals. Defender has to pass to the wings if the Defender has the ball. It's their job in hockey to make sure that one of the wings gets the ball so then they can score a goal.

Do you know how to play the wing position in hockey? This is how you play Wing. In wing you need to make sure you are ready for the ball because you are in a position to score a goal.wing is the most important position to play your body needs to be facing towards the goal it's kind of like you are looking at your teammate facing   the side of the goal.

so when the ball goes towards the goal you can make sure it actually goes into the goal with a little push with your hockey stick. That's how you play wing.

Goalie is there to stop the opposite teams ball going into the Goal. If you are the goalie you  need to make the hockey stick kind of like it laying on the pitch but you are still holding the stick. When the opposites teams ball goes towards the goal the goalie has to hit the ball so it does not go into the goal and miss is it.

measurement test 2021

measurement test My goal is calculating the area and perimeter as well as reading scale weights however I have got in better at all. My strengths are understanding temperature and understanding negative numbers. What the teacher's did well on and what they needed to work on the teacher's did well at giving us workshops that we needed to go to to learn as well as giving us great tasks on Mathletics even though I have not been using it more. However there are not as many measure workshops.

My Weekly Reflection for Week 8

My Weekly Reflection for Week 8

What I learned this week was: this week the hub learnt  lots about decimals and in spelling we learnt the long i sound as well as seeing Harold

In Math's was how to …work out decimal percentage is…..

In Spelling how to use long i  sounds

Thinking about our value of responsibility, this is how I’ve been responsible this week.  Will i think i'm am very responsible because I completed all my assign tasks on Mathletics and steps and i did  more than enough minutes on Mathletics and Step

My next steps are to to make sure I'm sitting by someone I'm not going to get distracted by.I think

My person who I think has been the most responsible this week is Anais. Anais is one of the most responsible people in the class she completed all a assigned tasks on mathletics as well as steps and did more than enough minutes.

My Maths Reflection on Learning in Statistics

What I’ve got better at or improved upon.

I now know I’m better at understanding what a bar graph is and how to draw one accurately.

What I still need to work on:

While we looked at line graphs, I still need to do more work on that. I know how to read them but find it difficult to plot the points. i still need to work on probability

What I enjoyed and what could be better.

I really enjoyed the Kahoots since they were fun plus playing the number spinner games where you had to guess which number might come up. I would like us to reflect more because I love reflections. I think we could do them every lesson even it’s just speaking.
